An undocked panel can be resized without affecting the sizes of other areas attached to the panel. When you undock a panel, the panel overlaps the surrounding areas and covers the available space of the editor. If you resize a docked panel, all the surrounding areas are automatically scaled to the new size. The panels are docked by default which means they are permanently attached to the editor.
